Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer
Robert F. Friel is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of PerkinElmer, Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors. He previously served as Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of the Company and President of the Life and Analytical Sciences business unit. Prior to his role with LAS, Mr. Friel also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of PerkinElmer with responsibilities for business development and information technology; in addition to his oversight of the finance function.
He joined PerkinElmer in 1999 and was one of the primary architects of the company's transformation into a global technology leader focused on improving the health and safety of people and the environment. Prior to joining PerkinElmer, he held several senior management positions at AlliedSignal, Inc., now Honeywell International.
Mr. Friel holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Lafayette College and a Master of Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He serves on the Board of Directors of CareFusion; the Analytical and Life Science Systems Association (ALSSA), and is a Member of the National Board of Trustees for the March of Dimes. He is a former member of the Board of Directors at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Fairchild Semiconductor, Inc.
Joel S. Goldberg
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Joel S. Goldberg joined PerkinElmer in July 2008 as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
Before joining PerkinElmer, Goldberg spent seven years at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. where he most recently served as vice president, chief compliance officer and secretary. Prior to this, Goldberg was an associate of the law firm Edwards & Angell, LLP.
Goldberg graduated from the Northeastern University School of Law and also holds a Masters in Business Administration for Northeastern. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
John Letcher
Senior Vice President Human Resources
PerkinElmer, Inc.
John Letcher is Senior Vice President of Human Resources for PerkinElmer, Inc. He joined PerkinElmer in 1999 as Vice President of Human Resources for the Optoelectronics business unit and, in 2003 was named Vice President of Human Resources for the Life and Analytical Sciences business unit. In 2008, Mr. Letcher was named Vice President of Human Resources for PerkinElmer, Inc. He was named Senior Vice President of Human Resources in January 2010.
Previously, he served as Director of Human Resources of ABB Americas, Inc., the United States subsidiary of an international engineering company. Prior to that, Mr. Letcher held the positions of Business Controller in ABB Americas, Inc.'s US Power Generation Gas Turbine Power business; Vice President of Finance for General Ship Corporation and Senior Auditor for Arthur Anderson.
Mr. Letcher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and information technology from Boston College.
Dr. Daniel R. Marshak
Senior Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer, and President Greater China
Daniel R. Marshak, Ph.D., joined PerkinElmer as Senior Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer, and President Greater China in May 2006. In this role, he leads the Company's research and development functions, while helping drive its growth strategies in the emerging areas of personalized medicine and predictive diagnostics.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Marshak was vice president and chief technology officer, biotechnology, for Cambrex Corporation. He has also served as senior vice president and chief scientific officer for Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. and senior staff investigator at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in Long Island, New York.
Marshak received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry & molecular biology from Harvard University, and holds a doctorate in biochemistry & cell biology from The Rockefeller University. He has received numerous awards for scientific and academic achievements, and holds six issued U.S. patents.
Marshak has extensive experience in stem cell research and is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, including one textbook, and has been editor of five monographs. He currently holds an appointment as an adjunct associate professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and previously taught graduate biochemistry as an assistant professor at the State University of New York School of Medicine.
John A. Roush
Senior Vice President and President, Environmental Health
John A. Roush is senior vice president of PerkinElmer, Inc. and president of the Company's Environmental Health business. He joined PerkinElmer in April 1999 as general manager of its Short Arc Lighting business and subsequently led the Optoelectronics' Sensors group. From 2002 to 2004 Roush served as vice president and general manager of sales, marketing and product management for the Optoelectronics business and was then promoted to the role of Optoelectronics' president which he held from 2004 to 2008.
Roush had significant management experience prior to joining PerkinElmer, including management roles with Outboard Main Corporation and Allied Signal, now Honeywell International, McKinsey & Company Inc.'s strategy consulting practice and General Electric.
Roush holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Tufts University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.
Richard Walsh
Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer
Richard F. Walsh is senior vice president and chief administrative officer of PerkinElmer, Inc. He joined PerkinElmer in 1998 as senior vice president of Human Resources and was named chief administrative officer in January 2006.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Walsh was with ABB, a $30 billion global technology company, where he was senior vice president, Human Resources of the Americas, a $7 billion operating unit with 30,000 employees. He also served as vice president, Human Resources for three operating units of ABB in the Transportation and Power Generation segments. Prior to ABB, he served in various Human Resources leadership positions at Unilever, including a four-year international assignment leading Human Resources for European Operations in the Specialty Chemicals segment.
Walsh holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a Master of Business Administration from LaSalle University. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in counseling from Villanova University.
Frank A. Wilson
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer
Frank A. "Andy" Wilson is the senior vice president, chief financial officer and chief accounting officer of PerkinElmer, Inc. In this role he has overall leadership responsibility for the strategy and operations for all of the Company's finance and control functions.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer in May 2009, Mr. Wilson served for 12 years at the Danaher Corporation. While at Danaher he held key financial and business management roles including corporate vice president, investor relations; group vice president, business development; group vice president, finance, Danaher Motion Group; president, Gems Sensors; and group vice president, finance, Industrial Controls Group.
Prior to joining Danaher in 1997, Mr. Wilson worked for several years at AlliedSignal Inc. (now Honeywell International) where he last served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer, Commercial Aviations Systems. His prior experience includes PepsiCo Inc. in financial and controllership positions of increasing authority, E.F. Hutton and Company; and KPMG Peat Marwick.
Mr. Wilson received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor University and is also a certified public accountant.

Dr. Richard F. Begley
President, Emerging Technologies
Richard F. Begley, Ph.D., is currently the President of Emerging Technologies, an internal new ventures organization to bring in new technology platforms and incubate new businesses based on these platforms, for future transfer into existing business units. He joined PerkinElmer in February 2007 as president, Analytical Sciences, a role in which he was responsible for developing and leading the global growth strategy for the Company's entire portfolio of analytical instrumentation.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Begley was the president and CEO of Ensemble Discovery, and previously served as president and CEO of 454 Life Sciences. He has also held senior management positions with Agilent/Hewlett-Packard, including director of manufacturing, general manager of its Chemical Solutions and Mass Spectrometry units, and head of worldwide research and development for the Chemical Analysis Group. In addition, Begley has served in management and senior research positions with Schlumberger and Los Alamos National Laboratories.
Begley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Fordham University, as well as a Master of Science degree in applied physics, an Executive Master of Business Administration and doctorate in applied physics from Stanford University.
Dr. Richard M. Eglen Ph.D.
President, Bio-discovery
Richard M. Eglen, Ph.D., is the president of PerkinElmer's Bio-discovery business unit. He joined the Company in 2006 as vice president and general manager of Drug Discovery Reagents, and was named to his current position in November, 2007.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Eglen held numerous executive management positions in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic and biotech industries. Until 2006, he was chief scientific officer and executive vice president for research and development at DiscoveRx Corp. Previously, Eglen served as vice president and director of the Institute of Pharmacology at Syntex Research, as well as vice president of the Center for Biological Research at Roche.
Eglen has worked extensively in the GPCR, kinase and ion channel fields, from the perspective of both drug discovery and assay technology development. He is the author of more than 250 publications, book chapters, and patents, and serves on numerous journal editorial and National Institutes of Health advisory boards. He holds a doctorate in molecular pharmacology from Trent University in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
Dr. Brian Giambattista
President, Medical Imaging Business
Brian Giambattista, Ph.D., is the president of the Medical Imaging business for PerkinElmer Optoelectronics. He joined the company in 2003 as the engineering leader for the Santa Clara site and has since held numerous roles within the organization including West Coast Center of Excellence engineering leader, global engineering leader for the Medical Imaging business and general manager for the Medical Diagnostics business. Giambattista was named to his current position in June 2008.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Giambattista held positions with GE Global Research and GE Medical Systems, now GE Health Care, where he was involved in the development of flat panel x-ray detection technology using amorphous silicon.
Giambattista holds a doctorate in physics from the University of Virginia.
Dr. David Nislick Ph.D.
President, Illumination and Detection Solutions
David Nislick, Ph.D., is the President of Illumination and Detection Solutions for PerkinElmer, Inc. He joined the company in June 2004 in the role of Global Product leader for the Biotech business as well as Director of Business Development for Optoelectronics. Dr. Nislick held the role of President of the Lighting business and Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for PerkinElmer Optoelectronics before assuming his current role in January, 2009.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Dr. Nislick held senior marketing and corporate development roles with Corning Incorporated, Oak Industries and Axsun Technologies, and served as a management consultant in A.T. Kearney's Utilities practice. He also worked as a mergers and acquisitions analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston.
Dr. Nislick holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Middlebury College and received his Master of Arts and doctorate in business economics from Harvard Business School.
Dr. Lapo Paladini
Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer
Lapo Paladini, Ph.D., is senior vice president and chief marketing officer of PerkinElmer, Inc. Prior to this appointment, Paladini served as president, Asia Pacific, East Europe Middle East and Africa, and South America. Since joining PerkinElmer in February 1982, he has held a succession of management positions in the Company's organization, including vice president and general manager, sales and service, Europe for PerkinElmer Analytical Instruments, and global sales and marketing leader for PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences. Paladini holds a doctorate in industrial chemistry from the University of Pisa (Italy).
Ann-Christine Sundell
President, Genetic Screening
Ann-Christine Sundell is president of PerkinElmer's Genetic Screening business. She joined the Company in 1997 and previously held management positions in population screening, bioanalytical research and diagnostics.
Sundell is recognized in the genetic screening industry as one of the foremost experts in screening technologies, applications and efficacy. She devotes much of her time to working with developing nations to design, deliver and promote genetic disease screening initiatives to reduce death and disability of newborns.
Sundell holds a Master of Science in biochemistry from the University of Abo Akademi. She is an active member of several industry associations and organizations including the American Association of Clinical Chemistry, the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry, the American Society of Human Genetics and the International Society of Neonatal Screening.
Dusty Tenney
President, Analytical Sciences and Laboratory Services
Maurice "Dusty" H. Tenney, III is president of PerkinElmer's Analytical Sciences and Laboratory Services business. He joined PerkinElmer in June 2001 in the role of vice president of global operations for PerkinElmer instruments, and also served as vice president of PerkinElmer's corporate supply chain. In late 2003, Tenney was promoted to president, Laboratory Services in which he led the transformation of PerkinElmer's service business through a broad range of innovative service solutions. In 2009, Tenney's responsibilities as president were expanded to integrate the Analytical Sciences and Laboratory Services businesses. Tenney is responsible for driving the strategy, growth and investment decisions for global sales, service, manufacturing operations, quality, and related support functions. Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Tenney was with AlliedSignal, now Honeywell International, where he served as the vice president of Avionics Products. Before joining AlliedSignal, he was the manager of RF products at General Electric, where he was also an Edison Engineer.
Tenney holds Bachelor of Science and master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Vermont.
